Born on July 7, 1964 in Atlanta, GA, American singer and bassist Debra Killings is perhaps best known for her session work with multiple artists who’ve released music produced by Dallas Austin, having provided background vocals across all five studio albums released by the American girl group TLC (from On the TLC Tip to the 2017 self-titled album), fellow American singer Monica’s first two studio albums (Miss Thang and The Boy is Mine), and both of the albums that the now-retired Japanese singer Namie Amuro released in 2000 (Genius 2000 and Break the Rules). Among other artists, she’s also credited for providing both the background vocals and bass guitar stems on many OutKast songs.

Besides her session work, however, Killings provided the singing voice for Paula Patton’s character in the 2006 musical drama Idlewild and also released two gospel-genre solo studio albums in the 2000s (Surrender and Open Heaven).
