Formed in Pesaro, Italy in 1977, Death SS was founded by Stefano Silvestri (later known as Steve Sylvester) and Paolo Catena (later known as Paul Chain). The group would use elements of heavy metal, horror, and occultism to pioneer Black Metal and what they refer to as ‘horror music’. Having released nine studio albums, four live albums, eighteen singles/EPs, and six compilations, the band is still active and making music.
