Dear Whoever was a post-hardcore band from Portland, OR that formed in 2003. Their original line-up consisted of: Jacob Ashley [vocalist], Jason Garner, Mark Woodbridge [guitarists], Kenny Leake [bassist], and Sam Snow [drummer].
They would circulate various demos online and release their first EP, “From A Falling Star”, in 2004.
Jacob Ashley would leave the band shortly after, forming Upon Beauty Rests, and Aiden Franklin would become Dear Whoever’s second vocalist.
In 2005, “Sound the Trumpet”, their second EP, would be released through Broken Line Records and truly launch their success.
Within months they sold over 1,000 copies, had 376,000+ plays on PureVolume, and became one of the top ten ranked artists on Smartpunk for sales while maintaining an internet presence.
They preformed on Warped Tour twice [2005 and 2006] Despite their plans to create a full-length album, this would fall through for unknown reasons. Thereafter, the band’s activity slowed to only infrequent demo releases until they announced their breakup in 2011 via MySpace.
