Darius Damian Lewis (born June 10th, 2001) better known by his stage name DBangz, is a rapper and producer hailing from Phoenix, Arizona.

DBangz released his first song “Baby You’re Intoxicating” on February 25, 2016. The song was different then what was to come as it was completely serious. He would continue releasing music onto his SoundCloud page throughout 2016, with boom bap songs featuring his friend Snottyman and various lo-fi instrumentals produced by DBangz himself. He would end off 2016 with “FUCK IT UP!” This song featured more modern production and was the first real instance of DBangz incorporating humor into his music.

Going into 2017, DBangz continued to merge his sense of humor with his music. With songs like “THICK NIGGAS ON DECK” and “Put on Earth to Exterminate Thots” performing extraordinarily well, DBangz continued down the meme rap path and the fans kept on flooding in.

On June 8, 2017, DBangz released his first mixtape, Summer Booty Sweat. This project featured fan favorite songs such as “Dick Sweat on My Wrist” and “A Weird Way to Express My Love,” solidifying himself as a rising force in the underground rap world.

Everything would change on July 19, 2017 when he released his breakout hit single, “Thick Niggas and Anime Tiddies.” This song would outperform everything DBangz had released prior, going on to be certified platinum. The song eventually topped Spotify’s Viral 50 Global chart, outperforming veteran artists like Ed Sheeran and G-Eazy. The songs success would even land him a feature on XXL’s “The Break” series.

DBangz ended off 2017 with the release of his second mixtape, Winter Booty Icicles, on December 12, 2017. It featured popular songs such as “Wet Willy.” He also released one final single that year, that being “LET A NIGGA SMASH” featuring a then unknown Florida rapper Cochise. The song went on to become one of DBangz biggest hits.

Going into 2018, DBangz started off with another viral hit song, “Kimono” with Lil Boom. He would soon follow up this songs hype with the release of “Last Claim,” his first successful serious song. The track was apart of his May EP Konohagakure, a five song project featuring boom bap songs reminiscent of his earlier work. He would continue to have a successful 2018 with more popular releases, some including “Scars” featuring Scarlet Santiago and “Freeze” featuring Kelz Got Juice.

On July 1, 2019, DBangz released his second EP, Keahonui. Similar to 2018’s Konohagakure, this project was filled with more serious boom bap music, showing that DBangz was much more then just a meme artist. Keahonui was released in dedication to the late Etika who has passed away just a few weeks prior to suicide. The project performed well with fans who appreciated his change of pace. He would continue to drop meme rap songs for that side of his fanbase, releasing “Aids Results” featuring Sad Frosty just a couple weeks after this EP. This would unknowingly be his last release for the next year.

After a brief hiatus, DBangz returned on May 22, 2020 with the release of “Prove.” Partnering with PIVTL Projects, he continued to go down a more serious path with his music. He would follow up his successful return with his next EP, Been a Long Time, on September 11, 2020.

DBangz would only release a couple songs in 2021, those being “The Souce” featuring Jae Zole, “Numb” and “100 Million” with Elle Vee. Other then those few tracks, it was a fairly quiet year for DBangz.

After another brief hiatus, DBangz would return once again on July 10, 2022 with the release of Breath Control. The album itself would eventually be taken down, however he ended re-releasing all the tracks from the album as singles. This would unknowingly be his final project and release overall.

Since 2022’s Breath Control, DBangz has not released any music officially. He has done the occasional feature, but other than that, nothing. He is still fairly active on social media and sometimes shares snippets of potential releases.
