David James Archuleta, born on December 28, 1990, is an American singer and songwriter. He began performing at 10 years old after winning the Utah Talent Competition and became the Junior Vocal Champion on Star Search at 10 years old. He rose to fame in 2008 as a runner-up on American Idol Season 7.

His debut single “Crush” debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and his self-titled album sold over 900,000 copies worldwide. By 2012, he had sold over 1.1 million albums and 3.3 million tracks in the U.S.

He took a two-year hiatus from 2012 to 2014 for LDS missionary work in Chile, has since toured internationally, and in 2021 came out as queer, later clarifying he is gay and demisexual. In 2025, Archuleta announced his EP Earthly Delights and a North American tour.
