Danny Schmidt, born 1970 in Austin, Texas, is an American songwriter. He currently lives in Austin with his wife Carrie and their child.

Danny is known for his lyrics, and takes inspiration from the likes of Bob Dylan, Neil Young (which he makes oblique reference to in his song of the same name), and Tom Waits. Danny released his first album in 1999, entitled Live at the Prism Coffeehouse. In 2012, he gained wider recognition for the appearance of his song “This Too Shall Pass” on Welcome to Nightvale, a popular podcast. Danny and Carrie have both had some further association with the podcast, touring with the podcast to perform their songs as recently as 2015.
