Embracing both the fast-paced wordplay prevalent in the lyrical side of the genre and the autotune-coated sad rap that acts like Lil Uzi Vert and Juice WRLD have mastered, California rapper Counterfeit entered the hip-hop arena in early 2019 determined to give listeners a bit of both. Although he initially jotted down bars as a small hobby, linking up with singer & producer Becksuses led to him taking music more seriously. Thus, his pages of intricate rhymes were transformed into audio files that could be distributed to all major streaming services. During his high school years, Counterfeit became an avid listener of rap music and eventually decided to become an artist himself. Childish Gambino, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and Speaker Knockerz are just some of the many rappers that motivated him to pursue a career of his own. With an album out and multiple singles under his belt, the independent hip-hop artist plans to continue writing and recording music. The rapper’s debut project ‘Damage Control’ was released on September 5, 2019. It includes guest vocals from io, yung trappie, and Lil Bitch amongst others.
