Howard Earl Bailey Jr. (born March 9th, 1980), more commonly known as “Chingy”, grew up in St. Louis, started writing lyrics at 9, and rapping at 10. He debuted as an opening act for Nelly in 2002, then that same year, he signed to Ludacris' label “Disturbing tha Peace”. In 2003, he released the hit single Right Thurr, peaking at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. On July 15th, 2003, he released his debut album Jackpot with mixed reviews but still peaked at #2 as well on the Billboard Hot 200 and has since gone 2X Platinum, it also had hit singles like Holidae In, featuring Snoop Dogg, and owner of DTP, Ludacris, and One Call Away featuring Jason Weaver. His second album Powerballin', released on November 16th, 2004, was the first album released on Chingy’s Slot-A-Lot label, peaked at #10 on the Billboard Hot 200, though debuting at 172 with only 7,000 first week sales, it has the singles Balla Baby and Don’t Worry featuring Janet Jackson. The song I Do was used for the game Need For Speed: Underground 2. The album has since gone Platinum. Hoodstar, released September 19th, 2006, debuted at #9 on the Billboard Hot 200, selling 77,000 copies the first week, and has since gone Gold. It had the singles Pullin' Me Back featuring Tyrese and Dem Jeans featuring Jermaine Dupri. Hate It Or Love It with first week sales of 31,000, it had features from big artists like Rick Ross, Bobby Valentino, Ludacris, and Trey Songz. On September 7th, 2010, he released Success & Failure, failing to chart on the Billboard Hot 200, with features from 8Ball and Lil' Flip. His latest release is Chinglish, released June 16th, 2023, and is by far his least popular to date.
