Ch!pz was a Dutch bubblegum pop group formed by Rachel van Hoogen (Rach-L), Cilla Niekoop (C!lla), Peter Rost, and Kevin Hellenbrand (Kev!n). The group spawned hit singles such as “Cowboy” and “Chipz in Black”, all reaching the number 1 spot in the Dutch Top 100 charts. The group disbanded in 2011, after a long legal battle about music rights.

The group began in 2003 at an audition for new bands, after which they decided to form the pop group. They gained popularity thanks to promotion on the TV channel Fox Kids. “Cowboy”, “One, Two, Three” and “Ch!pz in Black” were all major successes in other countries and all reached the top of the Dutch Singles Chart/Top 100. The band’s debut album, The Adventures of Ch!pz, went straight to number one on the Dutch album chart.

The World of Chipz and Past:Present:Future Part I EP were released in 2005 and 2006. “Gangstertown” from Past:Present:Future reached the top five of Dutch Top 40. Past:Present:Future, Part II EP was the sequel to the 2006 Part I EP released in 2006. The single from it, “One Day When I Grow Up”, reached the top ten of the Dutch charts, charting at #2.

The band had TV show named “Chipz Dance Xperienz” that came with the album, CDX.

The group would soon come to an end. Their last concert was in November 27, 2010. They planned to release another album called The New Adventures of Ch!pz, but it was scrapped due to management doubting the success of the upcoming project. A legal battle soon took place for Ch!pz to gain rights to the name, but it failed. On January 1, 2011 they disbanded, announcing the split two days afterwards. Some of the band members moved on to different things after Ch!pz; Kevin made music and had a dance studio, Peter hosted “Holland’s Got Talent”, and Cillia worked for a TV station.

In 2018, the band teased a comeback, but their next concert turned out to be an April Fools prank.
