Cerys Elizabeth Matthews MBE, is a Welsh singer and songwriter who started her solo career with a debut single titled “Caught in the Middle” in 2003, featuring two CD’s. CD 1, featured the songs “Caught in the Middle”, “Banjo Moon” and “Chilli Winds”, whilst CD 2 featured “Caught in the Middle” (Again), “Il Est Midi”, a French-language song and “Four Cotton Dresses”. She released her debut album also in 2003, titled “Cockahoop” It featured 13 different tracks and three different languages, English, French and Welsh.

In 2006, Cerys released two albums and two singles. She released “Beech St. Recording, featuring original and cover tracks, followed by two singles "A Bird in Hand” only featuring one song of the same title as the album and “Open Roads” featuring three songs. The singles were a lead-up to her new album titled “Never Said Goodbye” with “Open Roads” being the star track, also featuring the title of the album within the song many times. The album featured 10 tracks, 9 in English and 1 in Welsh.

In 2007, Cerys released her first EP titled “Awyren = Aeroplane”. This was a fully-Welsh album featuring original and traditional tracks.

In 2009, Cerys released another EP and two albums. The EP was titled “Moon Songs” featuring 4 tracks and the albums were “Don’t Look Down” and its Welsh alternative, “Paid Edrych I Lawr” which featured some of “Moon Songs” tracks in Welsh within the album.

In 2010, Cerys released 2 albums. A live album titled “Cerys Matthews (Live)” and an album featuring traditional Welsh songs titled “TIR” meaning “Land” in Welsh.

Cerys continued producing music in 2011 when she released a new album featuring a mix of different songs based on Cerys own roots. It was titled “Explorer”

In 2012, Cerys released a Christmas album titled “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” featuring classic Christmas songs and carols, and also another traditional Welsh song. This album featured 4 different languages, English, German (In “O Tannenbaum” and “Silent Night”), Spanish (In “Silent Night”) and Welsh (In “Y Darlun”).

In 2013, Cerys would release her last musical album, titled “Hullabaloo”, which was a sister album to her previous album, released 3 years prior, “TIR” featuring 16 more traditional Welsh tracks.

Cerys would still continue to produce albums, however in the style of poetry. In 2014, Cerys released a poetry album, retelling Dylan Thomas' Christmas poems and in 2021, she released another poetry album titled “We Come From The Sun” along side the Hidden Orchestra and 12 poets.

In 2024, Cerys featured in the album “Jack Frost” by Debbie Wiseman where she sung “Tell Me, Star”, with Debbie Wiseman.
