Casper TNG, formerly just Casper is a Toronto rapper who started rapping in 2013 when he put out his debut mixtape, Menace 2 Society. Casper says his early musical influences were The Weeknd, Drake, and Chris Brown. Casper’s first track to reach a larger audience was Dope Boy but he has been putting out music consistently for his entire career. Thematically, Casper raps what he lives and what his listeners find relatable. Stylistically, he developed his own sound throughout the year as the “king of the melody” and hooks in Toronto. A turning point for his musically was his single “All About Me” in 2014 which was the first to feature a hook and verse song structure with melody, which has become his signature sound. This made a lot of progress in the scene since at the time the Toronto sound was straight rap with no melody and not letting the beat breathe.
