Brought up in the heart of Fort Worth, Texas, Nashville-based indie rock singer-songwriter Caroline Carter’s quiet but mighty sound rings true to the phrase “Everything’s bigger in Texas.” With a perspective informed by having a twin sister, much of Carter’s lyricism centers around growing up, discovering herself as an individual, and the queer southern experience. Influenced by the likes of other female artists such as Lizzy McAlpine, Phoebe Bridgers, and Soccer Mommy, Carter provides heavy- hitting words through a soft-spoken voice–both in and outside of her music.

Carter’s resume in performance is lined in gold stars, as she grew her craft in the musical theatre scene. After starting her journey on stage in fifth grade, Carter continued to a performing arts high school where she unearthed her love for singing and writing rather than a life on Broadway, a discovery which ultimately led her to Nashville to pursue music.

Best described as bittersweet anthems about falling in and out of love, Carter’s music aspires to push lyrical boundaries through personal experiences. Her goal isn’t to sound sweet, but rather to tell the truth as she paves a path in the indie rock genre providing authenticity and honesty, through her distinctly soft voice backed by powerful instrumentals. Through her music, she aspires to provide queer representation in the music industry by through being vocal about her sexuality within her music. She explains, “I don’t think queer music has to be so in your face it can just be what it is.”
