Calimossa
AKA: Tomas Pascali
Calimossa (Tomás Pascali) is an L.A.-based alternative hip-hop artist. He is known for his implementation of various instruments throughout his music, many of which are unconventional in hip-hop.
His first EP, Habaneros, was released on January 14, 2018, to his SoundCloud page. It included his breakout hit, “Planet X”, which has since amassed over five million streams on Spotify. Planet X received a boost in December 2019 after it was featured in Season 6 of HBO’s Silicon Valley and in a MasterClass advertisement.
“Gatsby”, the second track off of Calimossa’s 2019 album Honey Days, was featured in two Red Robin commercials in late 2023, further boosting its popularity.
Calimossa released Grotto’s in January of 2022, coming over two years since the release of his last album Honey Days. The album was supported by three singles. The first was “TOO HOT MELTING”, which was released on March 26, 2021. The second single, “Bye” was released on June 30, 2021, and featured fellow L.A.-based rapper Voli Contra. It was featured on episode three of HBO’s Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the New York Jets. The third single was Cura+ which was released on December 3, 2021. It was accompanied by a lyric video which was released ten days later. Grotto’s has since received over 350,000 streams on Spotify.
2024’s Club 555 featured stand-out single “What’s In The Tea?” which would go on to be featured on Barack Obama’s Summer 2024 Playlist, amassing over 600,000 streams and bringing Calimossa to a peak of nearly 300,000 monthly listeners. The song reached even greater heights when Obama shouted the song out on a video by Carter Gregory which reached nearly two million views on TikTok.
