Building 429 is a Christian rock band that originated from Fayetteville, NC. Originally forming out of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church, the group would go on to win New Artist of the Year at the 2005 Dove Awards. Though the line up for Building 429 has changed over the years, the band has been led by Jason Roy.

The band entered the Christian music scene with their breakout single “Glory Defined” which had a more ‘00s alt-rock sound, but as time went on, listeners grew to know the band with less of that alternative grit as they solidified their sound within the CCM space by incorporating more pop into their rock roots. This era was spring-launched with the release of Listen to the Sound in 2011 and included Michael Anderson on drums, Jessie Garcia on keys and guitar, and Aaron Branch on bass. This line-up remained consistent through We Won’t Be Shaken (2013), Unashamed (2015), and Live the Journey (2018).

Overtime, however, many of the band members decided to step down leaving Roy to be the only remaining member by 2022. This led Roy to explore a brief solo career before coming back to release a couple of singles through Building 429.

In 2026, Roy announced that they were entering a new era as an independent group distributed by Integrated Music Rights. This saw the inclusion of frequent touring keyboardist Steven Stewart, Roy’s son Avery on drums, and Austin Appling on guitar into the band’s new line-up.
