AKA: Mobolaji Odojukan, Boj Drb, Boj Level, Bolaji Odojukan

Bolaji Odojukan (born 22 April 1994), known as Boj, is an English-Nigerian singer and songwriter. He is a member of DRB LasGidi with TeeZee and Fresh L, and is linked to the alté movement.

He was born in London and raised between the UK and Nigeria. He studied business management and audio engineering, then moved to Lagos in 2015. He started making music in school and formed DRB LasGidi in 2007.

Boj released his first solo mixtape, #BOTM, in 2013, with its title track winning Best Alternative Song at The Headies. He dropped his debut album Magic in 2017, followed by the collaborative projects Make E No Cause Fight (2018) and Make E No Cause Fight 2 (2019). His second album, Gbagada Express, came out in 2022 and featured several Nigerian artists.

His music draws from artists like Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, and Fela Kuti. He is often associated with alté, a style that blends afrobeats, dancehall, hip hop, and R&B, and has described it as a form of creative freedom. The term was first coined by Boj on his 2014 song “Paper”, and was later used to describe left-field styles of music. Boj said in an interview that the term alté means…

freedom to express yourself without boundaries, without the constraints of the mainstream in whatever sector, whether that’s fashion, whether that’s music, whether that’s photography, whatever it is man.
