Bobby Charles (born Robert Charles Guidry, February 21 1938 – January 14th 2010) was an American songwriter. His first success came in 1956 when he released the single “See You Later, Alligator” which was covered by Bill Haley and His Comets. His songs “Walking to New Orleans” and “It Keeps Rainin'” were recorded by Fats Domino in the early 1960s.

In 1972, Charles released his first album, which featured performances by members of The Band, Dr. John, and Ben Keith. Later in Charles' career, he would write and record songs with Willie Nelson, Rick Danko, and Fats Domino. He continued to release albums up until his death in 2010.
