BNK48

BNK48 (read B.N.K. Forty-eight, short for Bangkok 48) is a Thai idol group and the 2nd international sister group of Japan’s AKB48. The group is named after Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand. The group’s logo is styled as all other 48 groups' logo’s with the same font and a different background symbolizing something about the group’s origins. The orchid serves as both the color and motif of the group, as it is a popular flower in Thailand.

The 1st generation members were announced on February 12, 2017. The group officially has had 6 generations over 8 years (up to 2025). In order for the members to be organized, each member is distributed into different teams. These teams being Team BIII, Team NV and the trainees.

BNK48 debuted on August 8, 2017, with their first single, Aitakatta. This single followed the trend of other international 48 groups creating covers of Japan’s 48 groups' songs. However of course being written in their country of origin’s official language.

The group has its own theater in The Mall Bangkapi, in Bangkok, Thailand. The members perform there every night while rotating the teams who perform.

The group has found national success with a number of hit tracks, the most successful song, “Koisuru Fortune Cookie” became viral overall in Thailand, makes BNK48 step up to be a national idol group. And still released hit tracks until now, including “Shonichi,” “Kimi wa Melody,” “High Tension,” “โดดดิด่ง,” “ดีอะ” and many more.

As of now, the group has released 15 major singles, 1 special single, and 5 studio albums, which has sold more than 2.4 million copies.
