Benediction is a British death metal band formed in Birmingham, England, in 1989. The original lineup included Paul Adams (bass), Peter Rewinsky (guitar), Darren Brookes (guitar), and Mark “Barney” Greenway (vocals). Their early demo, The Dreams You Dread, garnered attention and led to a deal with Nuclear Blast Records.

The band’s debut album, Subconscious Terror, was released in 1990. Following Greenway’s departure to join Napalm Death, Dave Ingram took over vocal duties. Benediction continued to build their reputation with albums like The Grand Leveller (1991) and Transcend the Rubicon (1993), solidifying their place in the death metal scene.

Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Benediction released several more albums, including The Dreams You Dread (1995), Grind Bastard (1998), Organised Chaos (2001), and Killing Music (2008). After a hiatus, they returned with Scriptures in 2020, marking the return of Dave Ingram on vocals.

In April 2025, Benediction released their latest album, Ravage of Empires, which received positive reviews and charted in Germany. The band supported the album with the “Tales Of The Triple Death 2025” tour alongside Jungle Rot and Master.

Currently, the band’s lineup consists of Dave Ingram (vocals), Darren Brookes (guitar), Peter Rewinsky (guitar), Nik Sampson (bass), and Giovanni Durst (drums).
