AKA: Shondrae Crawford
Shondrae Lee Crawford, professionally known as Bangladesh or Mr. Bangladesh, is an acclaimed American record producer, songwriter, rapper, and DJ. Born on February 24, 1978, in Des Moines, Iowa, Bangladesh has become a significant figure in the music industry, especially known for his distinctive, keyboard-driven production style, which he describes as “foreign to your ears"—a sound that inspired his stage name.
Bangladesh began producing music in 1998, but his major breakthrough came in 2000 when he produced Ludacris’s hit single “What’s Your Fantasy.” Over the years, he has crafted numerous chart-topping tracks, including Lil Wayne’s “A Milli” and “6 Foot 7 Foot,” Beyoncé’s “Diva,” Mario’s “Break Up,” and Kelis’s “Bossy.” His production on Gucci Mane’s “Lemonade” became a cultural phenomenon, inspiring numerous remixes and freestyles from prominent artists.
A two-time Grammy nominee, Bangladesh has worked with top-tier artists such as Usher, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Ciara, and many others. He was affiliated with the Cash Money label for much of his career and, in 2015, launched his own eponymous record label, signing fellow Midwestern producer Harv.
Currently based in Atlanta, Georgia, Bangladesh continues to influence the sound of contemporary hip-hop and R&B through his innovative beats and dynamic collaborations.
