Ash Riser (1989-2021), also formally known as Ashtrobot, was a singer-songwriter who frequently collaborated with Top Dawg Entertainment artists Kendrick Lamar and Ab-Soul.

His solo independent career as the Ash Riser we know today started in 2016 with the release of three EPs: Modern Medicine, HOME, and Late Praise, along with a barrage of singles. These releases helped solidify his unique sound by blending blues, soul, alternative, and hip-hop, forging his style. In 2017, Riser released his debut seventeen-track LP, GHOSTS, and was received positively by publications such as DJ BOOTH and Consequence of Sound.

In April 2018, Ash released On Everything, a four-track EP collaboration with Don Alfonso. In April 2021, he released the Ssssh EP.

In May 2021, Ash announced a new project, titled HOPE, and was set to be released the following month. On June 12, 2021, Riser passed away, with the cause of death presently unknown. As a result, HOPE has yet to be released. After his death, fans, friends, and collaborators expressed their thoughts and stories about Ash and his music.
