Alex Calder was a Canadian musician who first made his name playing drums in Makeout Videotape alongside Mac DeMarco between 2008 and 2010.

After parting ways with DeMarco, Calder began crafting lo-fi bedroom pop under the name Collage Party before signing to Captured Tracks under his own name. He released the Time EP in 2013, followed by his debut album Strange Dreams in 2015, and toured in support of Surfer Blood in 2016.

In October 2017, Captured Tracks dropped Calder and canceled his imminent self-titled album following a sexual assault allegation. Calder issued a public apology and stepped away from music, while the label pulled distribution for his earlier releases.
