AKIU
Just sharing my art.
I’ve been playing guitar when I was younger and loved messing around with piano’s and more instruments. I’ve been in choirs for 8 years of my life. One day (in 2010) I tried composing myself using a DAW. Since then I’ve been evolving and practicing this skill as much as I could.
I initially never planned to sing or rap or anything, but as I was listening to lots of old school hip hop (Wu-Tang style thangs) in my car when I got my driver’s license, I noticed I was actually able to sing along most of them and relly enjoyed it.
That’s when I decided I’d write some lyrics to my beats that were getting more and more decent. The first few songs I ended up with were objectively really bad, but my friends said it would be great if I released them, so I did.
After some time, and because I levelled up a lot in music production, I decided to remove those first “songs” and start releasing a new era of AKIU music. At that time, I started learning mixing and mastering (2019). I tried recording my first song “Generations” in a pro studio, but was not satisfied by the result. So, I bought a great mic and built some acoustic panels, bought monitoring speakers, and I just made my dream come true: I had my very own studio.
The first few songs I released after that were a starting point for me to learn vocals mixing, mixing, mastering, which take a lot of practice to master.
I was never really satisfied, but told myself: “man, you wrote Generations lyrics over 2 years ago now, you gotta start somewhere”. So I tried doing my best and released it, and after that, one song every 2 weeks for some time.
These first songs will be a reference point to watch my learning curve. Since then I’ve been getting better and better, but I still got a lot to learn.
I’m experiencing with different music “flavors” and mixing rap/trap/pop styles to make my own style. I sometimes even switch to techno in my songs. I’m probably doing way too much as 1 person, because doing lots of things doesn’t get you excellent at anything, but “just” good at all those things. But that’s how I’ve always been living my life, being curious about everything and researching lots of subjects.
I’m actually doing all this as a passion, but also working a 9-5 job on the other hand, playing video games with friends, building random projects here and there… But I’m still thinking music is my number 1 focus and will always be.
All this mindset tells me one thing: Always Keep It Up (AKIU)
Love you all and hope you’ll enjoy my art ❤
