Diego Sousa, better known as Ælf is a multidisciplinary French-Italian musician and visual artist from New Zealand and based in Portugal.

At 17, he released his debut single Error on February 18th, 2022. That single would be featured on his first record and debut EP Liminal Void on April 22nd, 2022.

After the release of his last record and a single for the short film ‘24 лютий’, Ælf had been gradually working a full-length LP titled The Prophecy. He started producing this album in March of 2022, which led to the release of the lead single almost a year later, Maggot Machine. A new beginning would flourish into his music-creating journey, showcasing a dark, electronic, agressive or ambient soundscape with themes of fantasy, mythology, and technology. After the release of two more singles, La Sangre de un Hada (feat. Ene Lo) & The Enchanted Moura, the album was released on October 13th, 2023.
After releasing the singles Angels vs. Ælves (feat. GrimesAI) and Cathedrals for Androids, on September 13th 2024 the deluxe version of the record was released with 7 new tracks (including singles).
On June 13th 2025, the remix album for The Prophecy was released, with reimagined tracks and ambient versions remixed by Aelf and various artists & features such as Jay Hudson, Evrhane, LUN ÍVUK, Cihna, Riccardo Scalici & Matt.
On May 29th, 2026, almost 3 years after The Prophecy was released, Ælf had completed a music video for every song on the tracklist, making it a visual album. It marks as Ælf to be one of the only musicians in Portugal to have a visual album, as well as fully self-directed and edited by him.

After almost 3 years without a new record, Ælf made a quick rollout for his third music installment titled ‘Treasons’, a 4-track EP with 2 outtakes from The Prophecy and 2 new songs. Treasons brings a new prespective into Ælf’s songwriting, producing and mixing skills, introducing a dark but introspective and cinematic view of his worldbuilding and bringing elements of new genres like electroclash, folktronica and triphop.
