Aborted is a Belgian Brutal Death Metal band from Flanders, formed in 1995 by vocalist and only original member Sven de Caluwé. The band originally had an all-Belgian line-up, but latter members were of Icelandic, American, French, and Dutch nationalities. The band name supposedly came from an idea that having the name would push their CDs to the front of the “A” section, meaning more people would see them.

The band would release their first demo in 1998, and their debut studio album, The Purity of Perversion in 1999 through Uxicon Records. Throughout the releases of their subsequent albums, the band would often have 1 or 2 members change in their line-up. The band would sign to Listenable Records in 2000-2001, and release their second studio album, Engineering the Dead in 2001. The band would release 2 more albums before they would sign to Century Media Records in 2006-2007 and release their 5th studio album Slaughter & Apparatus: A Methodical Overture in 2007. The band would release 7 more albums before they would sign with Nuclear Blast in 2022 and release their 12th studio album, Vault of Horrors in 2024.
