A Different Thread is a transatlantic folk duo formed by English singer-songwriter Robert Jackson and American multi-instrumentalist Alicia Best. The two met by chance while street performing in Galway, Ireland, in 2016 — harmonizing on the spot before taking their collaboration on the road across Europe and the United States.

Living largely on the move, they’ve built growing reputation for a stripped-down, DIY approach and a “modern-vintage” sound rooted in nostalgia. Their writing leans into themes of love, loss, polyamory, wanderlust, longing, connection, freedom, change, and social justice.
