Kailey Mitchell ( born October 26th, 2009 ), was born in Newark, New Jersey, and moved to Frisco, Texas, early in her life. Having wanted to be a singer almost all of her life, she began writing music in the 4th grade. She says her first song, titled “No Apologies”, was:
“very well written for a 10-11 year old but so fcking cringe to read now. It was giving WAY TOO MUCH Tori Vega”.
Growing up she would always sing for her family and tell them about her dreams of being big in the industry like some of her favorite artists.
She’s credited her influences as being Falling in Reverse, Pierce the Veil, Slipknot, and Nine Inch Nails. When asked about what she describes her sound as, she says,
“ If you put rap music and Punk Rock together, that’s it. My sound has changed so much through the years, it’s really crazy to watch. You go from 2018-2019; being, you know, corny, bubblegum pop. Then, 2022; the big shift in my music taste, as well as my sound. Now, it was starting to sound more, um, pop-punk, or alt-pop. I remember, this was around the time I was listening to Nessa [Barrett] all the time. I started listening to her back in 2020, so I guess you could say my taste changed as her sound did. When she first released "Young Forever”, that was my big shift in sound. Songs like “Dear God”, “Too Hot to Cry”, “MadHouse”, and “Forgive the World”, really molded the sound I have now. Fast forward to 2025; and this was the rise of trap metal for me. I was listening to groups like City Morgue, Falling in Reverse, and Slipknot, all the time, and I loved it. I felt like the new genre I was creating music in was so fitting for me because there’s not really a standard there. In pop music, there’s a certain expectation, a certain sound you have to have, or things you have to say or can’t say". With the trap metal/ Horrorcore genre, you can say the most unhinged sht ever, and it would be acceptable".

She’s credited the biggest inspiration for her album as being Lil Peep and Falling in Reverse , saying:

“ Oh my God, Lil Peep and Tracy, for sure. I think i’ve been listening to Gus since I was like 11 or 12 so I’ve been listening for a while. It’s also painful for me knowing he’s passed, especially before I even got to hear his music. I was like 7 when he passed so I was too young to listen to his music anyways, but I have grown to love his music more than life itself. He is one of the few artists I connect with on a deeper level. I look up to him and his artistry a lot. I think "Hellboy” and “Feelz” inspired the record the most though. Those are my 2 favorite albums from him. As for Falling in Reverse, their debut album “The Drug In Me Is You” and “Just Like You” are my main inspirations. Ronnie’s first album with escape the Fate is also an inspo for me".
