3rd Root was an American Christian metal band based out of San Diego.

Formed in 1996, the band went through several lineup changes before settling on drummer Daniel Barragan, bassist Chris Baumgardener, lead singer William “Chili” Fields, and guitarist Andres Torres. The band released the Spirit of Life EP in 2000 to promote their debut album, A Sign of Things to Come, which released on August 29th, 2000 on Tooth & Nail Records. They disbanded sometime in the early 2000’s without releasing any other material.
