Out of the ashes of the Swedish band Prodigal Sons came the Dutch alternative pop-rock band 16 Down. After scoring a modest hit with their song “Subtle Movements”, the band was offered a slot at Lowlands 2001. Their debut album Headrush followed. A second single “Heaven Still Cries” was another modest hit on the Dutch pop chart. The album’s third and final single “If The Money’s Right” featured guest vocals by Rudeboy of Urban Dance Squad and was used in a Pepsi commercial.

In spring of 2003, 16 Down opened for Dutch singer-songwriter Anouk on her sold-out tour. The band also performed at the Parkpop and Bospop festivals that summer. Their follow-up Life In A Fishbowl was released in late 2003, without two of the band’s founding members. It found minimal success in the Netherlands – its lead single “The Day That I Met You” becoming a minor hit.

A third album F.L.O. followed four years later, giving the band its highest album chart position at #77. It was followed by two more years of touring. Despite mention on the band’s Facebook Bio that a fourth album is in the works, nothing has materialized. The group’s last founding member frontman Marco Hovius has spent most of his time running a recording studio he built and fronting a Pearl Jam tribute band.
