Distraught and distressed

I shall not egress

I'll sort through this mess

Of scar tissue and tears

Just tell me a story

Just open your ears

Torn from the womb

Battered and broken

Beaten and bruised

In a living tomb

Taken, forsaken

Used and abused

They didn't mean no harm

They didn't lift an arm

To hit, no threat

Just an implicit

Life sentence

Death in present tense

"I'm a warrior, aren't I?"

Tied strings, clipped wings

Won't hold this beast

You who I am made me be

I am this at least

I frequent fellow monsters

Not inhuman to me

Built to resist

Endure not desist

Now freed and fleeing

Seeking, returning

Coming gunning for you

Freeing your inmates too

Whatever the test

I shall best

When you come from every side, every side

When you shut out every light, every life

I shall stay right where I fight, sword held wide

I shall stand until I die, here I'll lie
