The tale feels grand or tragic

But is banal, 'unfit' for stage

It scars the page, befits the mouth

Of a gutter, not an orator

I care not the colour of Iseult's ship:

She comes not for the likes of me

Knights she saves, but not the knaves

We have a darker destiny

We are of those who never were

The shadows of some higher being

We spin no Wheel of history

Are enshrined in no fine tapestry

So let the worms eat my body!

I'll be down beyond the pale

But as long as there is breath in me

I'll writhe my way through rain and hail...

Take your pill

Drain your swill

Puff your cigarette

Clutch your amulet

Whatever works for you

To head out

Bite the bullet

Brave the day's

Dread, fear, doubt

And fight it

Anew

Stumble along

On 'em crutches

'Til you fall

And then crawl

One foot

After another

Fray your way

Through the day

Don't give up

Keep on trucking

Through the night

And go down with a fight
