Before The Storm

The calm before the storm;

The last moments of freefall

Before your body hits the soil

Your life don't flash before your eyes

But a dozen windows go flying by...

A thousand windows, a thousand glimpses

Into a thousand miserable lives

Husband and wife fight as the children cry

Broke broken loners seek the next gig to survive

A chronic patient sells all she has to stay alive

To stay alive...

At the sight of a thousand faces, your mind changes

At the thought of these lost battles that you could help keep fighting

But that ship has sailed, and we have failed

As the ground rushes to our heads, we scream and flail

And fail

We scream and flail
