Oh warrior, this foe no army can beat

No enchantment can spirit away or defeat

From every novel to suicide note

From here to the moon to lands further remote

The stories are many of whom tackled fear

The writers all lonely, their accounts unclear

Of an eternal victor, blade ignoring armour

Harm running deeper and escape made steeper

In every direction, 'til we freeze at our station

Fall to our knees and implore for oblivion

The end feels near, but have heart, dear

For before that end there's hope yet for us here

Charge with foolish courage of a Light Brigade

Through hill upon valley of tormented shade

Rise like the dead when doomsday's upon us

To battle-cries, unanimous

So go, hold on tight

Through every inch of the fight

As you cruise through the depths

Of the blackest of nights

Born from angst eating up

Every comforting light

Losing its focus

As it tuples its might

Until reason and love

Are shadowed in fright

And the tender remainder

Of sweet and delight

Is stowed below decks

And hidden from sight

What purpose does this suffering serve?

The cynic might chuckle and observe:

None! But i've the nerve to say:

I don't know but i'll take it anyway

And, let's carry it together today

Shoulder to shoulder we'll make our way

Draw a line in the sand that shall not be passed

Draw a sword made of light and dig in to hold fast

Do what you must, and when dusk falls on the dust

We shall be back together, a day older, a scar stronger

A friendship made deeper, and two lives made longer
