We’ve been spoon-fed our parents traditions

There’s a gaping difference between faith and legalism

We’ve been fighting against a vicious church

To plant seeds in the minds of a forward thinking generation

So that our children might live in equality;

And maybe they can be the first ones to truly understand what that means

Religion is a catalyst of self-destruction

We’d go out of our way to burn each other’s flags

This is a culture of broken hallelujahs

Hell should not be used as propaganda

Because fear is not faith

And I’d rather burn than allow bigotry to reign

In the name of a holy ghost I’ve never seen

We were raised to believe

(something’s wrong)

Something is wrong with us, and surely we need saving

(we need saving)

But if love, does not out weigh the law

(something’s wrong)

Then tell me

(we need saving)

How is life worth living?

And I would rather take another’s place in hell

If it saved them from a lifetime of condemnation

And I’d rather burn than merchandize the cross

I would rather die than live in bondage to confusion

We’ve been given power of decision

And morality is a choice you are given
