Parallel

I can’t feel what’s right or wrong

When all I know are the rusted bars

Of my own prison

Six feet deep and I’m still digging

There’s no sign of stopping

I can feel my shadow glare at me

Casting from a dead man walking

Though I’m walking through the shattered glass

I’ll get there but bleed in the process

I may not be happy, they’ll see me as something

These parallel visions are all that I see

I’m sick I’m fed up of living this way

The passing days remind me this

Is nothing but breathing a miserable reality

Playing along to a pointless game

I’ll sit and I’ll watch as they cut me out

Safe to say they got tired of being let down

I’ve been trying to get free from these chains

The ball around my ankle really drags down

My dependency, empathy, no responsibility

I’m sorry you think that there’s a real me but

The weight has been the same the past 10 years

Leave me if you will, but being alone is one of my genuine fears

Though I’m walking through the shattered glass

I’ll get there but bleed in the process

I may not be happy, they’ll see me as something

These parallel visions are all that I see

Though I’m walking through the shattered glass

I’ll get there but bleed in the process

It’s consuming, destroying, corrupting, controlling

The image I made is glaring back at me

The voices that dwell in my head

They’re pulling me closer to the edge

Look a little closer, take another glance

They sing the sweet song of release, a chant of the end

Reflect back on me

The mirror and I only see

The fragments of who I was meant to be

Living under image is so pressuring

False hopes of those around me

Expecting something of this shattered frame

Though I’m walking through the shattered glass

I’ll get there but bleed in the process

I may not be happy, they’ll see me as something

These parallel visions are all that I see

Though I’m walking through the shattered glass

I’ll get there but bleed in the process

I may not be happy, I may not be happy

I may not be happy, I may not be happy
