Caught in a rut

It's rather hard to budge when things feel rather stuck

And you'd like to move along

But you find you're too hung up

And the reasons might be clear

And you might know where to stop

But you also might not care...

You push the limits past the top

To find there's nothing there...

That is, at least, nothing you haven't seen before

Blinded by a higher sight and a desire for too much more...

An immovable object is shattered into dust

And washed away by rain

Its pieces gathered by the rock

Being pushed back up the hill today

By a Sisyphеan hero

One must imagine him happy

In spitе of his known futile quest

His bliss? Simply pushing on...

When the weight of the past that you wear makes

You a stick in the mud, and the depth of how deep you're in

Is sinkin' in

Do you accept the fate you're given?

Think you can even budge?

Can you live with the world you live in

Or will you push the stone back up the bluffs

Over and over again?

The stone, at last, upon the hilltop

Brings a greatest dread

It brings a realization:

The path has Further still ahead

And this summit: but a subsidiary peak instead...

The towering apex looming drearily in the distance

Commands your gaze

As the stone begins to lean, breaking free

As it gives way to Earth's pull, knocking you down on its way

Bloodied and abandoned

Begrudgingly accepting the

Reality of things...

Freezing, stuck, and stranded

And sinking slowly the Further things go

And pushing on in the wrong way

When the weight of the stone that you push each and every day

Starts to make you feel like you aren't

Making way...

Does it make your heels dig harder?

Think you can make it budge?

Can you push on any farther

Or will you know when enough is enough

And then accept your fate?
