He’s referring to his new sound with Jake One as the producer. Traditionally, Mayer Hawthorne’s music has a more soulful vibe. This new sound is more funk driven.

However, on the Tuxedo Soundcloud page – he did post an hour-long mixtape “Shoot the Duck: Vol 1”. This mixtape, under another nickname ‘DJ Haircut’, was also a mix of soul and funk.
