Play Pretend

Draw me in pretend to hold me before I fall apart

These days all feel the same, and it's better left unsaid

So worry less, the foreseeable future has a plan of its own

Because all emotions and feelings are replaced

Or rendered to fit into conversation, fabricated and well rehearsed

So what is there left to say now?

Give me the time to sleep, remind me to change the sheets I feel

That these dreams are not for keep

My nightmares manifest the little wins that get me through the day

Tune out the static and play pretend

All I'm listening to is background noise

There's not too much to commemorate, I've seen how time and progression don't correlate

Five years flashed right before your eyes and only now you veer off highway lines

And the signs they point to

Every action to every mistake is a piece of a puzzle that's been categorically misplaced

It's all fabricated and well rehearsed

So what is there left to do now?
