Assimilate

I hesitate to walk through

Pitch black corridors and long narrow hallways

Find comfort in the light behind

But my dualistic mind can’t picture me on the other side

Do you remember those few times?

Cuz I remember those few times

Hold me, hostage

To the past and keep me

Smothered in the present

I'm speaking candidly when I say

What's it like driving off into the wrong lane?

Bet you’d call it head-on collision in a two-way street

Punch a hole in the door

And leave your belongings

In the boxes on the floor

When it all seems very straight

Coping gives me the chance to reflect

And assimilate

To fathom the moment

Is to savour its sweet sentimental taste

And I still get periodic flashbacks

They come in form of answers

To all my questions

Or is just wasted train of thought?

Winter hit as fast as summer came to an end

And with that came, the cabin fever uninvited

My directions are a little short-sighted

To fathom the moment

Is to savour its sweet sentimental taste

We long for loving but we will take what we can get

We’re all just animals

We’re drawn like moth to flame
