Sunday School always taught the world's ways is too broad

We’ll get to heaven one day, me and the whole squad

But all I knew about church back then was a fraud

Sung the same songs every week just to keep up the facade

Do I do this for the Lord or just to do a good job

Am I worshipping myself, or just to worship because

When ur a people pleaser your joy often get robbed

Better check twice , make sure we worship the same God

Swapped v-cards with my girl in the 13th grade

At first I curbbed her, abstinence was often up for debate

Save it for marriage, I would tell her you would be worth the wait

She was pro choice, stakes were raised, mistakes were made

My cell had rung one night, 3am i'm wide awake

Just fought off your own dad just to keep from getting raped

To give it up to him, the thought was too much to take

Right then I understood why you couldn't just wait

Why you let me go through this, LORD, I would pray

How could I ever use the same lips to sing Him praise?

If I understood like you do, would I still feel pain

All I know is the songs I sing will never sound the same

So I back to church like it made me a better man

If all the madness only a part of God’s plan

I need only to endure and learn In Christ alone I stand

So I had to cut you off like you were my right hand

Only me and no one else how i believed like a fool

But I knew your lock, wait til you clocked, thought I had not a clue

Turns out were nothing more or less the choices we choose

Are you sure you’re making your choices or are they making you?

But life goes on and now you’re gone by now you’re in the rear view

Hit up my cell it goes to mail seems like it wasn’t clear to you

But by now you’re old news, To think I would’ve married you

But in my mind it’s like you died and I just I had to bury you

We had to grow apart to get closer to the good news

That there is hope yet for eternal life and His name is Je’ sus

Confess He’s Lord, who died and rose for you and for me too

And all my sins forgiven only reason I forgive you

Renewed Faith to Obey ya, Like Gomer in Hosea

You pursued my heart, even when parts of me just want to play ya

To be espoused dwell in your house, part of a bigger picture

Like a groom, you'll return soon and we all get to be with ya

Free from shame known by name, that's why he had to paid the price

Took on our blame so that we'd gain his righteousness through sacrifice

His image might we become like for he's the way the truth and life

Eternal life, to be with Christ now he is clothing me in white

Built on a hill why must we hide not of this world but salt and light

Write my wrongs til I’m made right, No longer is my heart contrite

Faith to endure through the night, in the Body of christ I’m sanctified

Hell won’t prevail against this rock where you once said you’ll have your bride
