In these checkered past few months

I found it hard to pen or chisel the things I thought

It took me a long while

To grasp this puzzling sorry plight you put me through;

Despite your silence of non answer;

I ain’t gonna let this slide on me

Like it wasn’t enough to pierce my taciturnity and drive me loopy

Timid fire

That’s what I am

The burning tip of your cigarette

In these checkered past few days

I’m tryna coax your heart back to its place

Show me your true colors

I’m wrapped in blankets biding my time to shine again

With tear-stained cheeks, yeah

With scratchy eyes, yeah

And with many worry lines on my face

As I cup my coarse hands 'round my mouth;

As I tryna cut all ties to mill around

My heart’s still racing on the shreds of our dying fire

Timid fire

That’s what I am

Please, nod me in

Because

There’s just a little timid fire in my mind

The wind is blowing me the wrong way in my life

I just need to stop victimizing myself

Please, meet my eyes

As long as you’re sorry

I'm just a little timid fire in my mind

I need to wither in the water and dye with your colors

And now I’m posing as ghost in your retina

Don’t turn your eyes;

Don’t close your eyes

I’m hounding you anyway

Tell me that every dark cloud has a silver lining
