Work Harder

[Verse 1]

Underestimated, my intentions to fly

You can speak against my hustle, but the river is dry

No cry, no tears, I been the man for years

My peers, stay on the mission, never missing no meals (oh yea)

Been on the bottom, never been a bottom feeder

Just a whole lot of bottles, a whole lot of smoke

A whole lot of mirrors, a whole lot of bull

Never no go, just stayed in slow mo

Been around dudes so phony

Bought up my time so my mind stayed off this

But I keep offers, I’m feeling I’m worth a million a dollars

But it doesn’t make sense, giving time to your office

Harder, back on my altitude

It’s what you doing man, ain’t what you bout to do

Sleep is cousin of death, I took my bed out the room

Haters can catch a brick with the flow, man I’m here to

[Chorus]

Work harder

Work Harder

Move get, get up

Work, work, work harder

Work, work, work harder

Work Harder

[Verse 2]

I can’t hold my tongue, you can’t hold your drink

My minds on create, my heart holds my dream

I’m feelin like I’m worth a million dollars

But I can’t do it when I’m selling others product

So I am the product, prodigy and modest

What ever that I’m touching turn to gold that’s Midas

Whoever you thought I was man that’s lying

Been up in the jungle with the sheep, I am lion

Try him, move when it comes to that

Stay up out them suckers traps

You either a battery or battering these sucker cats

I been on the humble nap, you took me for sucker

But the same brotha you snubbing, telling you you nothin

Harder, back on my altitude

It’s what you doing man, ain’t what you bout to do

Sleep is the cousin of death, I took my bed out of the room

Haters can catch a brick with the flow, man I’m here to

[Chorus]

Work harder

Work Harder

Move get, get up

Work, work, work harder

Work, work, work harder

Work Harder

[Verse 3]

It’s what you doing, ain’t what you bout to do

It’s what you doing, ain’t what you bout to do

Sleep is the cousin of death, I took my bed out the room

And if you took the bet homie, you bout to lose

I been a factor in here, you benefactors are clear

You want to steal my soul, you can’t hack it, YOU FEAR

Cause you lie and manipulate, my trials have been so great

The good gave me my karma, I stopped living in dogma

Lost a lot my partners but God gave me my pardon

Can’t give all the blame, it taught me to work harder

Came from nothing to something you got to be motivated

When your names on the mortgage and all of your whips are paid for

What I went through this pain for, giving people my paper

Sick of wishing my visions materialize from vapor

I can’t even hate you, got the odds in my favor

Till I’m gone, let me thank you, hold applause, I was made to work

[Chorus]

Work harder

Work Harder

Move get, get up

Work, work, work harder

Work, work, work harder

Work Harder

Music is a product that I created, a product of my life and life’s work. It’s hard to do what it is you love while juggling the responsibilities of life to maintain yourself and keep it 100% legit.

Self-explanatory. I’m also a Leo.

I’ve gotten so much shit over this line. Yes, Nas said on “N.Y. State of Mind” that sleep was the cousin of death, but there were prophets and other prolific writers who used the same quote to emphasize work over rest or hustle over laziness.
