[Intro]

My prayers go out to everybody at Great Mills High School

Also attending

[Verse 1]

Everything was unexpected

I feel like we're unprotected

No attention to the projector until we're the ones affected

We got kids tryna learn lessons and students armed with a weapon

It was never suspected, but a way to feel the connection

If you listen to this, I just hope you gettin' the message

Crazy world that we live in, but it's also a blessin'

Only way for progression is if we just keep on pressin'

Be prepared for the worst, but just hope that all it get better

It ain't safe in the streets, nor it's safe in the schools

A bullet ain't got no name, it could've hit me or you

It just feels unbelievable, but it's sad that it's true

It just feels unbelievable, it happened out the blue

Parents shouldn't be afraid to send their kids to school

It's okay to love, but it ain't okay to shoot

If you holdin' a grudge, just brush it off and recoup

Keep the guns outta school so all the kids can pursue

[Interlude]

We just sittin' and talkin', and we just hear a shot. Like, I'm standin', like, with my back to the wall, and my friend was right here and, uhm, my other friend was on this side, and we-we're just talkin' like we do everyday in the mornin', and I hear gunshots from my left-my left hand side, I just, we just, we thinkin' like, "We gotta get out of the school"

[Verse 2]

Everything was unexpected

I feel like we're unprotected

No attention to the projector until we're the ones affected

We got kids tryna learn lessons and students armed with a weapon

It was never suspected, but a way to feel the connection

If you listen to this, I just hope you gettin' the message

Crazy world that we live in, but it's also a blessin'

Only way for progression is if we just keep on pressin'

Be prepared for the worst, but just hope that all it get better

[Outro]

Did you know right away that it was a gunshot?

And that's like, close to the main entrance to the school. So, we standin' at the doors for like a quick second, we ran out-out the doors, and we went on the main street, like, on the sidewalk, walkin' away from the school, and we looked back at the school and, like, it's students floodin' out the entrance
