The Reflection

Silent in the night

A ripple at first light

A problem coming clear

To many things to do

I thought then that I knew

Solutions on the rise

Inside

After several tries

I learned of ancient ties

And ventures forth to seize

This opportunity

Won't let it slip by me

Until it was too late for me

Tried to be

I know what went wrong

Pulled myself along for the ride

What could this be

When my reflection became me

Not a shed of self control

While I'm wringing out my soul

It's too late to turn away

A part of me, now more

Think I've seen this all before

Should have seen the end when it began

Instead I swam

With the panic in the air

Reaching hights we couldn't bare

So they tried to right my wrongs

Put them back where they belong

Took a risk to bring my end

All to satisfied my friends

I tried, now petrified

Behind the light

(So the story goes)

Gone now from making it right

My end I paved

(So the story goes)

Just soft reflections in the waves

Believing I had won

I smiled at the sun

My pride welled up in me

Turns out it was my fall

A mistake after all...

So now I've seen my ways

The reflection slowly fades

And I slowly fade away

And I slowly fade away
