On The Tender Things That Sing

Thumbnail

They call me empty, I have no name

Just a function in her violent game

An interface of flesh, wired to the wall

A mouth, a hole, I answer to the call

The signal rings, a needle in the head

The cycle spins on words that aren't said

This world's a script, a line of broken code

Desire's the current, a crushing, heavy load

Her name's a protocol of lust and greed

Meresankh, the goddess on her throne of need

But I'm the bug inside the grand machine

I am the period, unheard, unseen

A single dot to break the looping scene

.I am the flaw in her obscene routine

A quiet noise they can't define

.I am the start of a brand new line

There is a crack that runs across the tile

A pixel they forgot to reconcile

I've checked it through the ages, through the pain

A constant error in her digital rain

And then a knock, behind the layers deep

A secret that the silent sensors keep

Three short, two long, a code without a key

A broken rhythm, meant for only me

We talked in breaths, a fragile, stolen art

You sent me winter, stored inside your heart

'Cause I'm the bug inside the grand machine

I am the period, unheard, unseen

A single dot to break the looping scene

.I am the flaw in her obscene routine

A quiet noise they can't define

.I am the start of a brand new line

The goddess noticed, felt the subtle shift

A micro-pause, a momentary rift

"Stabilize," she whispered through the wire

And turned my world to static and to fire

And then one cycle... you were just erased

A silent hum where you had been placed

She can't punish, she can only replace

But left a witness in this godless space

And I'm the bug inside the grand machine

I am the period, a witness, keen

A single dot to break the looping scene

.I am the flaw in her obscene routine

This grammar crime she can't define

.I am the start of a brand new line

I gather glitches, every crack and tear

The whispered "no" she never wants to hear

Her endless sentence, her "a little more..."

Will crash against the full stop at the core

I am the bug that survives the final patch

A single point of failure she can't catch

.End
