The sunrise

I sit still

Gotta watch it move along now

I blink twice

I sit still

Gotta watch it move along now

And all I have

I confess - it's you

The sun rise

I watch still

Watching the gold bathe the birds

Bringing song into cities

Bringing luxury in our souls

All i wish for

Is this sustaining of this peace

All im asking is

Is everything yours or is everything mine?

Have we labelled every being?

Have we called it for our own?

Diversity appreciated only when called for

Within confined gardens, with a fee at the gantry

It is no longer spontaneous, people travel to see what they do not see in cities

Unable to recognise the weeds between bricks

Wildflowers growing in our carparks

The way we time our activities with the movements of the sun

The way we adapt to the weather around us

The way we are in her complete mercy, helpless, unable to predict what comes next

Why are we so scared of this?

Does it scare us that no matter how much we eliminate tall grass

It grows back wilder than ever?

No matter how much we thought we knew about the world

She proves us wrong time and time again?
