When I was walking home from the store

Carrying my plastic grocery bags

I saw some stupid fag get hit

By a car, what fools they all are

Still, I wondered for a second at the moment of impact

From afar, could I really know the gender for a fact?

I left my groceries there on the sidewalk

Ran to the crosswalk where it was lying

And choking back vomit I gazed at the carcass

And I reeled as the sky and the pavement, they blended

The world around me fell away

And the sight that I saw was sickeningly gray

It was hard to determine the sex

Just by looking at the guts

Couldn't tell whether or not, not at all

Apparently we all look the same on the inside

Who would've thought?

Well, I blinked a few times, and I took a deep breath

And since there wasn't anything I could do

I retrieved my plastic bags from the sidewalk

And I told myself everything would be fine

And I walked home calmly, truly thankful

That my frozen foods would make it home in time
