Behold the Messiah, who’s risen, ascended

To the right hand of God, no higher position

He came on a mission, by His own volition

Took on the form of a man, listen

Ladies and gents, to you I present

The greatest story ever told

Ladies and gents, to you I present

The greatest story ever told

Let me tell you bout the one that I trust in

High King of heaven, pens won’t do Him justice

First of all, the subject is paramount

Of utmost importance, I give an accurate account

The LORD sent prophets to announce His coming

Last one before He came ate locust and honey

His name John the Baptist, his message stunning

Calling men to repent like Noah, pre flooding

Filled with the Spirit, preparing hearts for the King of Kings

The Nazarene not yet on the seen

A Savior was promised and Israel awaited

When John saw Him comin’, he said in amazement

Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

John came baptizing that He might be revealed

Son of Man, Son of God, that’s two of His titles

The Christ had arrived, John was not there to rival

Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi

He was asking His disciples

Who do people say that the Son of Man is?

Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah

And others Jeremiah or one of the prophets

But who do you say that I am?

You are the Christ, the Son of the living God

Behold the Lamb of God astounding folks with His miracles

Jesus of Nazareth, supernatural, surreal

Fulfillment of prophecy, majestic, imperial

Mass crowds flock, surrounding Israel’s pinnacle

The promised Messiah taught and pittied them

Yahweh Shalom, the peace of Gideon

Down from His throne, for our sake humiliated

God’s only Son, mission initiated

Planned redemption, through perfect obedience

Death on a cross beam, a cursed medium

He was bruised for our transgressions

Persistent rebellion

His death foretold, protoevangelium

Buried in a tomb, He was dead but He rose again

God’s power on display, death couldn’t hold Him in

The Christ gave His life as a ransom for many men

That we might be saved from sins penalty in the end

Behold the Messiah, who’s risen, ascended

To the right hand of God, no higher position

He came on a mission, by His own volition

Took on the form of a man, listen

So what does it mean to believe that Jesus is the Messiah

The Son of God?

It’s not just: I love His teachings and I follow Him

It is this: I have nothing

I have no righteousness, I have no hope

Except what God did for me on Calvary

And in the resurrection of Christ from the dead

That is my hope
