Constants

There's a palace

There's a prince

And he has never been defeated

In the tower

Lives a teacher

Who's always suceeded

By the fire rests a fighter

Love is all he knows

And he says, "With you I'm always home!"

And that's just how the story goes

And they

Vanquish the villain

Day after day

He fights, he fails, takes flight, knows they'll

"Always find a way"

It's a constant, this give and take

This ebb and flow they share

They're the heroes; he's the anti

It's okay. He doesn't care

But then suddenly the fighter is reaching out a hand

And not to hit him or to hurt him and he doesn't understand

And the fairytale is breaking

And he's tired and he's aching

And he's making more mistakes, the Earth is shaking

And he's staking all his hope

On this fragile kind of notion

On this crazy new emotion

He's not always the bad guy

The story doesn't need a bad guy

(The story doesn't need a bad guy)

To go on

Youth seemed sweeter, but if I could return

All I've learned would be forfeit

I won't go back

There's a palace

There's a prince

In the tower

Lives a teacher

By the fire rests a fighter

They've never really cared too much for constants
