I need a new perspective

One that isn't tainted by my insecurities or my brazen self-regard

This might help me find it, or just make me see

That you can't stop the stampede of divulgence

Raging from my chest into my mouth

We need a new directive

One that isn't centered on a narcissistic dream and a blatant disregard

For our dignity. When I am reminded

I can't stop the onset of revulsion

And I refuse to play along but

All I can hear is my heartbeat in my ears and I can’t pass up another chance to ignore (you)

The time it takes just to drive the point home I could have spent by your side
