In my mind’s space, you’re the centerpiece of my living room

I felt this as soon as you came out the womb

You the saving grace of my pending doom

You the resurrection to my dormant tomb

When I’m feeling January, you the month of June

Do you remember September, when you came to me?

A virgin to reality where I can’t control what you see

Just know there’s a flip-side to every perspective

And when you feel a conviction, please don’t neglect it

It’s your life, you can choose the person you want to be

Live life to the fullest but choose your friends carefully

A sinking ship don’t spare a soul for the deceased

If someone ain’t fitting right, you can iron out the crease

I don’t smoke them treetops, but I got some deep thoughts

I was sinking until you came along and you helped me stay aloft

I know you got premonitions of perfect missions to save the village

I don’t know everything but I can save you some spillage

I know developing character ain’t like in the movies

I know when changing yourself, the first step’s a doozy

I know to find happiness, you gotta choose it

I know to find health you gotta move it

I know to find faith, you gotta lose it

I know our purpose on this rock ain’t just to up and die

You might find purpose when you hear a child cry

You might experience God when you least expect it, you’ll feel it inside

Until then, you might curl up and hide

You might find purpose from simply helping others

You might stray off the path just to find another

There’s more satisfaction when you can simply lend a hand

Learn to be selfless as early as you can

Selfless like a Sunday morning when a mom becomes a janitor

Selfless like not asking to speak to the manager

Selfless like running through a blazing fire to save a brother

Selfless like giving your best possessions to another

With every new day I see my past wash away

You grow in my shadow but you always light our way

If I was hallow then you fill me up

If I was empty you fill my cup

I will never again say this life is not enough

Never lose your innocence, that’s the last bastion

You looked at me for guidance but can I ask you a question?

Can you teach me? I might need to learn your lesson

To grow back into a child, that would be such a blessing

In your face I see hope for the world

In your eyes I see an endless swirl

In your smile I see the best parts of me

In your future I see the greatest man to be

Thank you god. How lucky did I get?

How did I get so lucky? How did I get so lucky?
